No one goes out in life in a quest to fail. But failure is one of the best teachers that we humans have. We do the homework, the research, the practice, we create the best speech and deliver it with pride. But the minute we think we have finished, we realized we missed the mark.
Then comes out the evaluator and starts pulling thread after thread of where our vision fell short, where we missed to clarify the comparison we were trying to do. It all-star falling in a free-fall spiral that gets momentum until the whole speech collapse and we find ourselves coming out scratching our heads, how did I miss so many points.
If that is the way you feel, let me tell you are not alone. Preparation and practice are the key elements of a good speech, but we procrastinate, leave out key points and rush at the last minute because we were too busy dreaming of the perfect way to put it all together.

If Life Was...evaluate to elevate
Have you ever stop for two minutes to consider, what if I was the one that would be conducting the evaluation of this work? What would I be looking for in this speech to make it worth my time and attention? What elements, images, and content would have to be present to move me and awaken the unconscious mind that guides me where I am going in life?
I know your answer before you even start considering a solution to this dilemma. Too much work! That's what it is, too much pain, effort, and hours of tedious role-playing, and mental fuel-burning.
I may be wrong in my assumption, but if you are like me, you may want to eat the cake and avoid the work of cooking, cleaning, mixing all the ingredients and waiting for the oven in your kitchen to bring it to a delicious crispy point.
I want the cake no the work; I want the appreciation for my talents, but not work so hard that I have to beg for attention and the reward. And that, of course, is where the whole U-turn to nowhere starts.
I have heard one to a million times, try to see the whole picture from the eyes of the people who are going see your art. Understand that when you are in charge of measuring the work, the way it is put out on the walls for the World to appreciate it is what counts.
I am not here to make people see things the way I do. My mission is not to provide agreement, but to create a reaction, positive or bad, but a reaction.
Okay, I hear you, but then why you worry about your evaluators judgment. You are the one putting it out for others to see, and then don't feel bad about the responses you get.
The critics will always find fault in everything. As a matter of fact, critics only mission in life is to point out what is wrong, not point to solutions or better ways to express your ideas. It is the speaker, writer or artist work to make such a good work, in which even the critics can understand your essential points.
Are the critics right in being so blunt, abrupt and sharp that cut the good with the bad? As an artist, you cannot answer that question, as you cannot be the driver and sit in the best seat for expectation.
You can only drive and follow the rules of circulation. Driving by the ugly side of the City, because those who live in the most beautiful confines, long time ago, make their point, that not one would traverse their space and see what only the privileges can see, their beautiful gardens and well preserve terrains with the best views in town.
With that in mind, when it come to evaluating your work, remember that you measure with bias, as you know best. And you know why you cannot bring the whole beauty together, but instead you bring chunks of beauty followed by contrast out of your control.
When it comes to it, decide between winning and being gentle and kind to others, above all always choose the latter. The truth is that sometimes you will be up and sometimes you will need others by your side to keep you there. What would be so beautiful of life if you only have yourself to see the wonders of life?
Is like having a mountain size cake all for yourself. You may be able to appreciate the size, but you may never taste or even eat it all. When you allow others to share, life flourishes and you discover more affection and life appreciation when others are near you.
Be positive in your judgment of the work of others, and understand in the first place that your are not one of the critics, you are the speaker flexing your wings in front of others like you. And you just want to help others like you to learn from your views and positive feedback.
Evaluate to elevate the self-esteem, the sense of belonging and you will find yourself be growing and enjoying others people around you more. There is not a bigger reward in life than the one of being a role model or a professor. Being the one that other admires and respect, as you are in awe and respect the work put out by others at the same time.
The more respect and admiration you give to others the more you are going to receive yourself. Do good no matter what. Elevate others to the highest of their potential and soon you will find yourself soaring to higher altitude surrounded by an army of like-minded self-appreciating and generous beings as yours.
The sky is not longer the limit, moving within the confines of our entire universe is. And as we grow, we may become a new race of architects of a new phase in humanity we have yet to found a name to call.
